Dad didn’t really speak of his time in the Royal Marines, but when he did it was normally with a sense of humour. Preying on his gullible children, he insisted that he had been shot in the cheek whilst serving in Northern Ireland. Years later he revealed that it was just a scar from having chicken pox, I wouldn't mind but I was about 15 before I realised!!
